Resurge Review – Does Resurge Really Work for Losing Weight?

Hey it’s Chris. Some of the links on this page may be sponsored - it helps keep the blog going. Cool? Onto the article...

I’ve had a fair amount of people write to me lately and ask me what I think about the product Resurge that’s promoted as a sort of miracle for getting better sleep, losing weight and being healthier. This is supposed to happen all by taking a pill before you go to bed at night.

So, I decided to dig in past their fancy sales page and slick video and find out:

  1. If the Resurge supplement is safe
  2. If the Resurge supplement works

Now, keep in mind, I’m not a doctor. I can’t give medical advice and I can’t guarantee results. But I will give you my HONEST take on the supplement and if I think it works.

What Is Resurge Good For?

Resurge is supposed to improve sleep, cause weight loss, slow signs of aging, and boost natural HGH production. All of the positive health effects come from the body’s ability to heal itself during sleep.

If you have trouble sleeping, the ingredients (listed below) in Resurge are well-known as effective sleep aids. A lot of things can make us lose sleep, including stress, noise, and physical discomfort.

It’s critical to address the root causes of poor sleep or insomnia. Most experts recommend developing a bedtime routine. Resurge can be part of that routine, along with shutting down computers, journaling, and setting a regular bedtime.

As we age, it can be harder and harder to get the sleep we need. This is where supplements can help. However, the weight loss and anti-aging benefits of Resurge don’t kick in until you’re sound asleep.

The Benefits of Resurge

Remember that the main benefit of Resurge is better sleep. Resurge’s other benefits like weight loss, anti-aging, and improved energy levels come as a result of getting better sleep. Things like increased energy levels and less wrinkles can be hard to put a number on.

While the eight active ingredients in Resurge don’t appear to have been studied when combined, several have proven benefits on their own. Melatonin is a commonly-used sleep aid with proven clinical trials to back it up. However, it needs to be taken at the same time every day to work as expected.

How Long Does Resurge Take to Work?

To see the positive weight-loss and anti-aging effects of Resurge, the makers of the supplement say to use it for 90-180 days. After about six months of using it regularly, you should start to notice better sleep, reduced signs of aging, and weight loss.

Unfortunately, it’s much easier to put on weight than it is to lose it. It’s also much less enjoyable. I’d rather eat the calories than burn them off! Our bodies can take a long time to adjust to a new routine, whether that’s diet, exercise, or nutrition.

We also tend to go up and down five or so pounds from week to week. You can step on the scale and be delighted to find that you’re five pounds lighter. The following week, you might find that those pounds have found their way back.

When evaluating whether or not Resurge is “working” rather than look at the scale and judging it purely by ponds lost, consider how you look and how you feel, and whether your body is getting more toned and muscular as opposed to how much you weigh (remember attractive, toned muscle weights more than fat).

What Are the Side Effects of Resurge?

According to the official website, Resurge has no side effects. However, the site doesn’t show any clinical trials that say how many people were tested for adverse reactions. Just because something is made of “natural” ingredients, doesn’t mean it’s safe to eat.

Even the most inoffensive carrot can have side effects if you’re allergic to it. If you’re taking any medication, ingredients in Resurge can interact with it too. Before starting any new pill or diet routine, check with your doctor or pharmacist.

The website markets Resurge as suitable for vegetarians. The supplement itself doesn’t contain animal-derived ingredients, but its capsule is made with gelatin.  Gelatin comes from boiling the skin, ligaments, and tendons of animals. Some animal products can trigger a serious allergy called Alpha-Gal.

Advertisements also state that the supplement is GMO-free. This means that the ingredients in Resurge don’t come from genetically modified organisms. People have different opinions about GMOs. But, non-GMO foods aren’t guaranteed to be without side effects.

What Are the Ingredients in Resurge?

I think this is an important question to ask before digging into the product and it’s weirdly missing from the Resurge sales page. Because if you don’t know the ingredients, how can you possibly understand if it does what it claims it does?

But… the AP (Associated Press) reports that Resurge Ingredients include arginine, lysine, theanine, ashwagandha, hydroxytryptophan, magnesium, zinc, and melatonin.

The good news is that all of these ingredients are considered safe (unless you are allergic to one of them) and are known to help promote deep and restful sleep.

I particularly like the inclusion of magnesium in the ingredient list. Most people are deficient in magnesium and supplementing with magnesium can help alleviate muscle pain and stiffness as well as help you sleep better.

Resurge for Weight Loss

One of the main claims that Resurge makes is “by naturally optimizing your deep sleep cycles, you can look forward to waking leaner, healthier, younger and way more energized version of yourself.”

resurge weight loss pill claims

They claim this can happen without having to alter your lifestyle or diet or exercise.

As you might know, I’m a big fan of physical fitness (surprise!). So, I balk at the idea of not needing exercise. But… there is quite a bit of research that shows that regular, quality sleep CAN be effective at maintaining or losing weight.

Here is a study that links getting high-quality sleep to the regulation of the hormone leptin.

Resurge helps with sleep duration and weight loss

The basics are that if your leptin levels are properly regulated through getting enough deep sleep that your body will have an easier time regulating metabolism and stress hormones.

Another report shows that the deep wave sleep that Resurge is supposed to produce helps improve health and increase lifespan.

Resurge helps improve sleep and improves health

Because the ingredients in Resurge do promote healthy and deep sleep, the result could be a much better regulated metabolism and make it easier to lose weight.

However, everybody’s body chemistry differs. So even though the ingredients SHOULD work to give you a better night’s sleep and help you to lose weight and feel good – sometimes they don’t.

But this combination of ingredients DOES work for most people.

Resurge for Deep Sleep

I’ve already mentioned magnesium, but I’d like to take a look at the other ingredients in Resurge because they all promote deep sleep.

Arginine

Arginine is an amino acid that has been shown in studies to increase slow wave or deep sleep in rats. Many people report that it has a deep calming effect.

Administration of L-arginine or SIN-1 during the dark phase significantly increased slow wave sleep and reduced waking during the first 4 h of the recording period.

Lysine

Lysine is another amino acid that promotes long and healthy sleep. Studies show that it can help prolong sleep so that you can get more rest.

The sleep prolonging effect of lysine, therefore, may be a direct action of lysine, or the metabolite(s) derived invivo from lysine, on the central nervous system.

Theanine

Theanine is an amino acid found in tea leaves. It promotes relaxation and good sleep by elevating GABA levels and lowering “excitatory” brain chemicals.

Ashwangandha

Ashwangandha is a root extract and can help with both anxiety and sleep.

Hydroxytryptophan

This one has a little less scientific backing. But if you’ve ever felt tired after eating turkey, then you know the effect of tryptophan on your system. It makes you sleepy! Hydroxytryptophan is a form they can put into pills.

Resurge hydroxytryptophan can help with sleep

Magnesium

Magnesium is well known to promote high-quality sleep, in fact, sometimes a magnesium supplement alone can be enough to give you better sleep.

Zinc

Zinc is well studied as a sleep modulator. It can help you to get better and deeper sleep.

Melotonin

Nearly everyone knows about melatonin and its ability to make you sleepy. I’m glad to see that it’s a low dose in this supplement (10 mg) because for some people it has a “bounce-back effect” when the dose is too high.

The bottom line here is that the Resurge deep sleep supplement contains a blend of ingredients that for most people work extremely well to promote deeper sleep.

Note: If you were to buy all of these supplements individually the cost would add up quickly. A huge advantage of Resurge is that all of these ingredients are put together in a single pill… at a much lower cost.

So Does Resurge Really Work for Weight Loss?

You can think of Resurge as more of a sleep supplement than a weight loss pill. Five out of eight of its ingredients are natural remedies people take to help them sleep.

Melatonin tells your body that it’s time for sleep. Hydroxytryptophan raises serotonin levels in the brain, helping you relax. Ashwagandha is a plant traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine. One of its many uses is to cause relaxation and encourage sleep. Zinc and magnesium are restorative minerals for getting that bit of shuteye that we all need.

Resurge’s reported weight loss effects come from research that shows sleep is a surprisingly good way to lose weight. The reasoning behind Resurge is that better sleep quality will encourage your body to use up fat. Who could say no to that?

Losing weight on the Resurge supplement depends on your ability to get good quality sleep. I don’t know about you, but I find that hard to come by. It’s not just the quantity of sleep that matters either. The quality of the sleep you get is the key. The most restorative level of sleep is “deep sleep” when the body repairs itself. Though most health and fitness experts talk about the importance of diet and exercise … very few emphasize the importance of sleep in achieving optimal health and fitness.

What Is the Resurge After-Dinner Ritual?

The promise of sharing this ritual is one way John gets you to watch his long promotional video. In the end, however, there’s no shocking reveal. The Resurge after-dinner ritual is an easy way to remember to take the supplement at around the same time each day.

For the “ritual,” simply swallow the recommended dose with a glass of water after dinner. The recommended dose for Resurge is four capsules per day. One bottle of Resurge is 120 capsules, or a 30-day supply.

You might want to keep a regular schedule, not just for memory’s sake. Some of the ingredients work because they key your body into when it’s time to slumber. Taking the pill in the evening one day and after midnight the next will throw off your sleep schedule.

Since sleep is the main focus with Resurge, you want to keep that schedule as regular as possible.

Can You Buy Resurge in Stores?

No, Resurge is not available in stores. You won’t find it in GNC, Whole Foods, or any brick-and-mortar shops. You can only order it from the Resurge website.

John Barban, the founder of Resurge, says that the reason it’s unavailable elsewhere is that he wants to keep costs low. That means avoiding middlemen who may jack up the prices. This is a common move that many direct-to-consumer companies are making today with the prevalence of online shopping.

While most consumers are used to buying direct from websites today, there are some who are still hesitant, which is one of the reasons Resurge offers a money-back guarantee.

Resurge Guarantee

One of the things I like about Resurge is their guarantee. If you’re on the fence about trying this product, then this can give you some assurance.

Resurge is sold through the Clickbank marketplace, which sells millions of dollars worth of products every year. They take the policies of their vendors seriously and if you buy through their system you KNOW you are protected.

Because of that, you can be sure that the Resurge 60-day guarantee is legit. They give you a full 60-day guarantee and you don’t need a reason. Just email them and they will refund your purchase.

Resurge Alternative

To the best of my knowledge, there is no other supplement on the market that blends these sleep-promoting ingredients in quite the same way.

Some people, however, get excellent results with a magnesium fizz.

One note of caution about taking magnesium on its own. In Resurge the dose is small enough not to cause problems. But if you take a magnesium fizz before bed you should start with the smallest dose and work your way up. Too much can cause diarrhea. If that happens, just scale back the dose.

Is Resurge a Legitimate Product?

With the slick sales page and all the hype around Resurge, it’s understandable that people think it’s a shady product.

The ingredients are legit for promoting deep sleep and deep sleep is directly linked to weight loss, muscle growth, and overall better health.

So, I would say that it’s worth a try. I would go for the largest pack, which gets you the best price and gives you a real chance to see if it works. You will probably be pleasantly surprised at the results.
