I’ve had a fair amount of people write to me lately and ask me what I think about the product Resurge that’s promoted as a sort of miracle for getting better sleep, losing weight and being healthier. This is supposed to happen all by taking a pill before you go to bed at night.
So, I decided to dig in past their fancy sales page and slick video and find out:

What Are the Ingredients in Resurge?
I think this is an important question to ask before digging into the product and it’s weirdly missing from the Resurge sales page. Because if you don’t know the ingredients, how can you possibly understand if it does what it claims it does?
But… the AP (Associated Press) reports that Resurge Ingredients include arginine, lysine, theanine, ashwagandha, hydroxytryptophan, magnesium, zinc, and melatonin.
The good news is that all of these ingredients are considered safe (unless you are allergic to one of them) and are known to help promote deep and restful sleep.
I particularly like the inclusion of magnesium in the ingredient list. Most people are deficient in magnesium and supplementing with magnesium can help alleviate muscle pain and stiffness as well as help you sleep better.
Resurge for Weight Loss
One of the main claims that Resurge makes is “by naturally optimizing your deep sleep cycles, you can look forward to waking leaner, healthier, younger and way more energized version of yourself.”
They claim this can happen without having to alter your lifestyle or diet or exercise.
As you might know, I’m a big fan of physical fitness (surprise!). So, I balk at the idea of not needing exercise. But… there is quite a bit of research that shows that regular, quality sleep CAN be effective at maintaining or losing weight.
Here is a study that links getting high-quality sleep to the regulation of the hormone leptin.
The basics are that if your leptin levels are properly regulated through getting enough deep sleep that your body will have an easier time regulating metabolism and stress hormones.
Another report shows that the deep wave sleep that Resurge is supposed to produce helps improve health and increase lifespan.
Because the ingredients in Resurge do promote healthy and deep sleep, the result could be a much better regulated metabolism and make it easier to lose weight.
However, everybody’s body chemistry differs. So even though the ingredients SHOULD work to give you a better night’s sleep and help you to lose weight and feel good – sometimes they don’t.
But this combination of ingredients DOES work for most people.
Resurge for Deep Sleep
I’ve already mentioned magnesium, but I’d like to take a look at the other ingredients in Resurge because they all promote deep sleep.
Arginine is an amino acid that has been shown in studies to increase slow wave or deep sleep in rats. Many people report that it has a deep calming effect.

Theanine is an amino acid found in tea leaves. It promotes relaxation and good sleep by elevating GABA levels and lowering “excitatory” brain chemicals.
Ashwangandha is a root extract and can help with both anxiety and sleep.
This one has a little less scientific backing. But if you’ve ever felt tired after eating turkey, then you know the effect of tryptophan on your system. It makes you sleepy! Hydroxytryptophan is a form they can put into pills.
Magnesium is well known to promote high-quality sleep, in fact, sometimes a magnesium supplement alone can be enough to give you better sleep.
Zinc is well studied as a sleep modulator. It can help you to get better and deeper sleep.
Nearly everyone knows about melatonin and its ability to make you sleepy. I’m glad to see that it’s a low dose in this supplement (10 mg) because for some people it has a “bounce-back effect” when the dose is too high.
