Angle Adjustments: Every SelectTech Bench is adjustable to several key workout positions. With the 3.1 (check price on Amazon), you get four positions – but if you choose the 5.1 (also available on Amazon), you’ll get six positions! Positions vary from 17 degrees decline all the way to a 90 degrees incline, depending on the model you choose.

User Weight: The weight tolerance for this bench series ranges from 480 pounds for the 3.1 and 5.1 versions to a whopping 600 pounds for the 5.1S.

Drawbacks and Cons of the Bowflex SelectTech Adjustable Bench

The only two drawbacks I found were also listed in many places as benefits. I’ll let you decide for yourself.

Gap: Some reviewers had concerns about the gap left between the seat and the benches’ backrest. But other reviewers raved about precisely this same point, so I think it comes down to user preference. Personally, the gap doesn’t bother me.

Bolts Quality: Another negative that came up was about the bolts used. So many reviewers raved about the easy assembly and the quality of the bolts. But there were a couple of reviewers who felt that the bolts were stripped and damaged. Any product can occasionally have manufacturing defects, or these could have been refurbished units. I’d stick to new unless you’re happy to replace the bolts if necessary.
